BARACK OBAMA, JOHN MCCAIN

It Almost Sounds Like Al-Qaeda Has a Campaign Blog

This article, on discussion of the U.S. financial markets and elections on al-Qaeda web sites, is fascinating, but probably won't matter much in the long run.

Apparently, the SOBs of al-Qaeda are taking credit for the financial meltdown — if Osama bin Laden really invented the concept of derivatives formulated from the subprime market, then he's much more of a genius with toxic bombs than I ever thought — and concluding that John McCain is their preferred candidate, because he will continue "the failing march of his predecessor." Wow. They must be getting those "change vs. more of the same" ads up in the mountains of Pakistan.

Our friends on the other side of the aisle may be tempted to tout this development; the Obama campaign wisely declined to comment.

Of course, if Obama's non-campaign backers start touting this, then they're saying that al-Qaeda's thinking of the American national security, economic, and geopolitical situation is accurate, and that their opinion is something this nation's voters should consider when going into the voting booth. Really, voters? Take all your advice from al-Qaeda web sites?

UPDATE: At Conservatives For McCain, they argue it's reverse psychology. It could very well be, but I found it interesting that the noted misogynists in the terror group had no comment on the ramifications of a woman being a heartbeat away from commander-in-chief of the Arsenal of Democracy. Some of Obama's fans like Andrew Sullivan insist it will send a great message to the world's Muslims to have a U.S. president who is darker in skin color than his predecessors, who grew up in Indonesia, who prayed at a mosque as a child and whose middle name is "Hussein." That may or may not be the case, but I wonder what message would be sent to the world's women to have the U.S. coming one step away from what the UK, Germany, Pakistan, Turkey, Israel, the Philippines, Ukraine, Argentina, etc., have done... have a woman as head of government.
