SOMETHING LIGHTER

Ron Paul Won a Straw Poll. No, Really.

Folks, this changes everything. It's huge. It's what the RonPaulbots have long been waiting for, their omen of imminent victory...

Supporters of Republican presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul dominated the West Alabama Republican Assembly 2007 Presidential Preference Straw Poll at Bryant Conference Center on Saturday afternoon.

Of the 266 votes casts during the poll, Paul claimed 216, landing him an easy victory.

Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney came in at a distant second with 14 votes.

Okay, I had never heard of the West Alabama Republican Assembly Straw Poll until a reader informed me of it, but clearly, the sample of 266 Republicans from there can accurately predict the way the rest of the GOP primary will shake out.

It's Ron Paul's world, we just live in it.

(The fun question will be how many RonPaulbots link to this post, and miss the sarcasm.)

UPDATE: Ron Paul also won the Stafford County, NH straw poll in a landslide. Clearly, it's time for those trailing candidates like Giuliani, Romney, McCain, Thompson and Huckabee to drop out.
