BARACK OBAMA

Michelle Obama: ' What I Notice About Men, All Men... Is That 'Me' Is First.'

Everybody is doing Michelle Obama profiles these days.

In a 2004 interview with the Chicago Tribune, Michelle observed: "What I notice about men, all men, is that their order is me, my family, God is in there somewhere, but me is first. ... And, for women, me is fourth, and that's not healthy."

The Obama campaign is really not that interested in the men's vote, huh?

UPDATE: From Campaign Spot reader Dave: "'Me first,' for men? A curious mis-step, especially from a Chicago native. Gale Sayers, the Hall of Fame Chicago Bears running back, entitled his autobiography (the basis for the movie BRIAN'S SONG) I AM THIRD ('My God is first, my family is second, and I am third.')"

Meanwhile, Campaign Spot reader Jeff reminds us of a theme from the Obama's close friend Oprah, that, " I fully understand that there is a huge audience for the message that your sense of self should be primary in your life — that by taking care of yourself first, you are better able to look after others — Hello, Oprah! A new car for everyone in the audience!!!!  Yaaay!!!!!"
