JOHN MCCAIN, FRED THOMPSON
McCain and Ron Paul Go At It Again
McCain on torture: "Life is not 24 and Jack Bauer."
Romney and McCain go back and forth at length about interrogation techniques. Haven't we seen this exchange in one of the eight or nine other GOP debates so far?
Q: Long term commitment to Iraq?
Thompson: We should be there as long as it takes to complete our mission there. It is part of a larger picture. Islamic terrorism declared war on us. They want to advertise to young radicals around the world that you too can bring down the United States of America.
Ron Paul: They say the surge is working. There's less violence, but Al-Sadr has won in the south of Iraq. The British are leaving. It's time to take care of America first!
John McCain: We never lost the battle in Vietnam. It was American public opinion that forced us to leave.
Once again, he goes after Ron Paul hard.
Paul: "Wolfowitz admitted one of the reasons al-Qaeda was organized and energized was because of our base in Saudi Arabia."
He gets a lot of boos. A little too close to blaming America, I think.
