MITT ROMNEY, MIKE HUCKABEE

Are We Watching Romney Get Up Off the Mat?

Romney, responding to Huckabee after one of his populist riffs: "You're not going to help the wage earner in America by attacking the wage payer." Boom. One of his best lines of the night. Is that an old Reagan line?

Still, Huckabee makes populism sound good to the layman, hitting "Cayman Island offshore accounts" and "a lack of equity in our tax system."

Rudy makes a nice response, making the case that conservative programs - particularly his "workfare" program in New York City - are better for the poor than traditional Democratic handouts.

Thompson says he fears that trying to move towards a Fair Tax could result in a consumption tax AND an income tax.

Wallace asks McCain respond to Romney's claim that he's been in Washington "forever."

McCain says that he, too, has been an "agent of change." Man, C.H.A.N.G.E. agents are getting self-exposed all over New Hampshire this weekend.

I like this assessment from Campaign Spot reader John: "This format reminds me of the “Boardroom” from The Apprentice… Lots of arguing back and form in a last minute attempt to impress the Donald, er… Chris Wallace…"
