BARACK OBAMA

Even When The News Is Good, It’s Bad

On the front page of today’s USA Today is a story on the latest numbers from the Census Bureau. In the past year, the median household income is up 1.3 percent, to $50,233; the poverty rate is unchanged at 12.5 percent, and the percentage of the public without health insurance dropped by half a percent to 15.3 percent.

And here’s the reaction from the Obama camp in the final paragraph:

Democratic presidential candidate said, “Today’s news confirms what America’s struggling families already know – that over the past seven years, our economy has moved backwards.”

In the Democratic worldview, America is the Dust Bowl, as Jay Nordlinger put it. Even when all of the news is mildly good or unchanging, it’s a sign that we’re moving backwards.
