FRED THOMPSON

Other Righty Writers on Thompson & the L.A. Times

Jennifer Rubin thinks Thompson spokesman Mark Corallo has contradicted his candidate.

At the same link, Phil Klein notes that judging by the applause during the Hannity appearance, FDT's "they know who to fear" is winning people over.

I would note that if the he-lobbied-for-abortion-groups story had come from... well, let's just say a news source that isn't the Los Angeles Times, it might carry more weight among conservatives. (Tim Russert? The Wall Street Journal? Heck, why not a conservative publication?) As it is, the Los Angeles Times, famous for its hit piece on Arnold Schwarzenegger right before the 2003 election, is so widely distrusted among the right that I'll bet more than a few conservatives have concluded that if it comes from the L.A. Times, it can't be true.

On a related note, Ruffini notices that FDT is "flattering the blogosphere, making it about "you" ... By all appearances, the feeling is genuine. FDT is very closely acquainted with the power of television, but when it comes to making major announcements, he goes to the blogosphere first. He doesn't have to do that."
