MITT ROMNEY

Unwise Words: "What are goign to do when Romney wins and you stuck trying to help Repubs with Romney running the party"

I understand a candidate isn't necessarily responsible for the actions of his supporters. But if I were on the Romney campaign, I would be rapping the guys at MyManMitt on the knuckles, after one of the guys running the independent, Romney-supporting web site left a comment on the site of blogger and consultant Soren Dayton:

What are goign to do when Romney wins and you stuck trying to help Repubs with Romney running the party.

For a political consultant, you have poor strategy and judgment.

"You will pay when we are running the show!" is not an inspiring message heading into primary season.

Then again, maybe the break-in to campaign headquarters has everybody cranky. Thankfully, word from the Romney folks is, "All the computers are password-enabled and the hard drives are encrypted. The only thing they're good for is parts."

UPDATE: The mood has calmed. Jason Bonham writes in, "What I was referring to was Soren's position of incessantly trashing Romney all the while starting a movement (with Pat Ruffini) to help the Republican party. Should Romney win, how could Soren ever say with a straight face that he wanted to help Repubs be a better organized and a better united party when he knocks to no end the guy who could be running that party in a short year? That was what I was getting at. Not that we would seek revenge on the house of Dayton should Romney take control. I do not oppose fair questioning of Romney on key issues, or even supposed flips on abortion, I do oppose the barrage of anti-Romney hit pieces Soren posts daily. Also of note, after the last post I put up on Soren's site, I realized I had been kind of Jackass and sent an apology to Soren which he kindly accepted. His words, to an effect were, someday we'll meet and undoubtedly be friends and laugh over the whole thing."
