HORSERACE
The Democrats: where even "one person, one vote" is optional.
In the past, I've heard Republicans talk about running ads in Michigan and Florida that would say, "The Democrats should be allowed to run the country once they've demonstrated they know how to run a primary." McCain offered a version of this joke in his American Idol appearance, noting that the major difference between the singing contest and a presidential primary is that on Idol, those two states count.
The AP delegate count offers another opportunity for mockery:
Obama is ahead in the hunt for convention delegates - 1,743.5 to 1,607.5, according to an Associated Press count Monday - but Clinton senses an opening after a win in Pennsylvania last month. Still, the delegate math works to Obama's advantage, and it will be hard for Clinton to overtake him.
Half a delegate? What, is this guy a split personality or something? Somebody's half the man or woman they used to be?
The half-delegate for each appears to be because the Democrats Abroad have twice as many people traveling to the convention than actual delegate votes alloted to them. (More people get to go to Denver this way.) Under that system, each one is half a vote, and they split unevenly.
Thus, a new message for the GOP to mock their opposition with: The Democrats: where even "one person, one vote" is optional.
