Coburn Turns the Sotomayor Hearings to Abortion
Sen. Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) offers Sotomayor a question on whether an abortion would be legal for a 38-week pregnancy where the unborn child has been diagnosed with spina bifida, and the mother believes she cannot cope with that difficulty.
She responds, "I can't answer that question in the abstract, because I don't know what the relevant state law is on the issue."
Earlier, Coburn said, in reference to the pro-life protesters who have disrupted the hearings by screaming, "The way you change minds is not to yell at people."
