BARACK OBAMA

Who's the Duke of Wellington in This Scenario?

George Stephanopoulos Tweets: "Top Senate aides confirm Obama's August deadline for healthcare won't be met. Durbin tells 'The Hill' not 'possible' Takes bullet for POTUS."

If that report is accurate, it's great news for ObamaCare opponents. But I wouldn't conclude it's too decisive. One of the reasons I don't quite like the "Waterloo" talk is that Obama will push for his plan after the August recess; and if that doesn't work, he'll just push again in 2010. If that doesn't work, he'll push in 2011; his line "if it doesn't happen this year, it's not going to happen" was just a rhetorical flourish, as Sonia Sotomayor would say, to create urgency.
