HORSERACE

Turnout Is Up. Way Up.

Accounts from my sources on the ground in New Hampshire and elsewhere put turnout way up — probably an all time record. First-time registrants are also very high, which is probably really good news for Obama and maybe a little good news for McCain.

Having said that, let's not forget that Mitt Romney's campaign is utilizing Alex Gage's TargetPoint technology and techniques, which specialize in reaching out to voters who aren't reachable through the usual sources (local television news, local news radio, etc.). TargetPoint worked wonders for the Bush-Cheney campaign back in 2004; can it work wonders for Romney today? We'll know in a few hours.

(If you're wondering why TargetPoint couldn't deliver Iowa for Romney, let's remember that the Iowa caucuses are a very limited pool of potential voters to work with.)

UPDATE: Wow. From Drudge:

Secretary of State is making runs to Seacoast – Hampton, Portsmouth – and Southern Hillsborough – Pelham, Nashua – to bring extra democratic ballots. Many towns are reporting shortages...

At this point, about 1:35 p.m., I'm about ready to call it for Obama.
