MITT ROMNEY
Sure, Now I Endorse Mitt Romney
I have no idea if he would be interested in what would probably be Mission: Impossible for the domestic auto industry, but there can't be too many folks who would be better qualified to be "Car Czar" than Mitt Romney. (Auto-crat?)
He managed to clean up an Olympics that looked like a disaster, is a "car guy," knows how to build a successful business, isn't afraid to lay people off, and is no pushover, declaring, "Without that bailout, Detroit will need to drastically restructure itself. With it, the automakers will stay the course — the suicidal course of declining market shares, insurmountable labor and retiree burdens, technology atrophy, product inferiority and never-ending job losses. Detroit needs a turnaround, not a check." He loves the product of the industry but isn't willing to coddle those who produce that product.
Democrats want Paul Volcker, who seems to get mentioned for every high-profile government position these days.
