There's a Democratic debate in Philadelphia tomorrow night. Keep it here this evening for live-blogging of Hillary vs. Everybody Else.

Look for this theme pointed out by Sebastian Mallaby: "Obama and Edwards are so intent on Bush-bashing that they refuse to cut him any slack, even when he advances a policy that they might ordinarily favor... Bush hatred has driven [Edwards] to the point where he regards sanctions as a harbinger of war rather than an alternative."

Over the weekend, Mike Huckbee touted the fact that he beat "The Clinton Machine" four times in Arkansas. (It's a nice accomplishment, but his rivals are likely to point out that beating the Clinton machine is to beating the Clintons as beating the St. Louis Rams is to beating actual horned rams.)

I suspect the success of 2004 left a lot of Republicans overly optimistic heading into the 2006 cycle. Is the success of 2006 leaving Democrats overly optimistic? Michael Barone notes the changes in our political landscape.

The Yankee fan in me wonders if the entire season — including the Red Sox championship — has an asterisk because of Barry Bonds. But the raw baseball fan in me is forced to salute another fantastic postseason performance, first a great comeback, then sweeping what had been the team with the hottest of hot streaks. Enjoy it, Red Sox nation. Just know you're forced to share your victory with Rudy Giuliani.
