Morning Roundup: Romney's Bio and Thompson Talks About His Hardest Moment

Patrick Ruffini contends Romney needs to talk about his biography more. I concur. He's got a pretty interesting life story and a record of accomplishments even his rivals would have to applaud, which, I think, is a more effective argument than "forget everything I said in 2002 and 1994, here's my real position today."

Fred Thompson talks about his daughter's death. I concur with Erick's take. And I can't help but think that any figure - perhaps one tied to the Schiavo case? - who criticized Thompson for this statement:

“I will assure you one thing,” he said. “No matter which decision you make, you will never know whether or not you made exactly the right decision.”

...is setting themselves up for a grand Sistah Soljah moment, where Thompson could make the case that our politics could use a lot less self-righteousness and a lot more respect for others in difficult circumstances.

In fact, I wondered if Thompson was going to whack around Fred Phelps like a pinata, but so far, it appears the Thompson campaign doesn't want to touch Phelps and his band of loons with a ten foot pole. (I would contend you're supposed to whack them around with that ten foot pole.)
