HORSERACE

'A Third-Party Candidate for President May Be Essential for Limiting the Damage to Republicans in Congress.'

Over in the Corner, Mark Kirkorian is talking about a third party candidate in a warm, fuzzy tone. He's thinking of a ticket that would attempt fusion between the Libertarian and Constitution parties.

Tick-tock; that kind of an effort would have to come together fast to get on the ballot in every state.

Elsewhere in third party news, word is that is New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is starting petition drives to get his name on the ballot... just to keep his options open.

In Texas, the deadline to get on the ballot is May 12, but petitioners cannot begin collecting signatures until after the state's March 4 major party primary.
