HORSERACE

Nine States are Close in the Big Ten Poll

I'm not going to bounce up and down at the results of the Big Ten poll, which is only of registered voters, and has a margin of error of four percent.

But I'd be mildly pleased if I were McCain - they have Pennsylvania dead even at 45 percent each. Same deal in Iowa, a state that, in my head, I was already putting in Obama's column this year. In Ohio, they have Obama up, 46-45. Same numbers in Wisconsin.

They put Obama up 4 in Michigan and 2 in Minnesota. The only state that is not in play in the region is (surprise!) Illinois.

In a week where most of the polling for McCain-Palin has been pretty bad, these are some cheery numbers.
