BARACK OBAMA, HORSERACE

Robert Gibbs Helps Out Marco Rubio

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs does his part for the Marco Rubio for Senate campaign: "I think [Gov. Charlie Crist] was very supportive of the [stimulus] legislation and supportive of the benefits it would have and has had for the state of Florida."

Last week, Crist said that despite the fact that he attended a rally for the stimulus with President Obama, he didn't "endorse" the stimulus; he now says that he supported the concept of it but not the bill itself.

By the way, the unemployment rate in Florida the month the stimulus passed was 9.5 percent; the statewide rate was 11.2 percent in September.
