McCain Suspending Campaign To Deal With Wall Street Crisis; Wants Debate Postponed

Breaking news - McCain wants to suspend his campaign starting tomorrow and return to DC to work on building a consensus for some sort of course of action to deal with the financial crisis. He's asking that Friday night's debate be postponed.

As a guy who wasn't a fan of having a debate on a Friday night, I second the motion...

UPDATE: Two thoughts - one, if there has to be debate, why not just hold it in Washington? I know Oxford, Mississippi has been setting up to host it, and it will be a disappointment, but national issues ought to take priority.

Second, if the Obama team tries to reject McCain's idea, the spin will probably be, "McCain wants to postpone the debate because he's scared." Of course, that argument is nonsensical in light of McCain's ten-town-meeting debate proposal, and Obama's sudden flip-flop on "I'll debate McCain anywhere, anyplace, anytime... whoops, no I won't."
