JOHN MCCAIN

How Can America Stand With Georgia?

A Georgian farmer asks, “Why won’t America and NATO help us? If they won’t help us now, why did we help them in Iraq?”

The U.S. is using its own planes and pilots to bring Georgian troops back from Iraq to their home country. Putin doesn't like that.

The Russians hit the T'bilisi airport and their forces are advancing well into the country. (Pretty darn far from South Ossetia and Abkhazia.)

Think the U.S. is putting their aircraft in the region to raise the stakes?

McCain outlined some steps today, including this one: "NATO’s decision to withhold a Membership Action Plan for Georgia might have been viewed as a green light by Russia for its attacks on Georgia, and I urge the NATO allies to revisit the decision."
