HORSERACE, JOHN EDWARDS

Another Candidate Forum, But This Time You Can Vote For 'That Answer Was Canned'

MySpace is hosting candidate forums, starting next week. John Edwards is up first.

One of the promoters tells me that in contrast to the YouTube debate, that event was all about asking questions, but there was no conversation. The MySpace event is going to be about dialogue, real time interaction.  A room full of public affairs graduate students will sift through the incoming dialogue / questions, group the content and feed it to moderators, who will "grab questions that are relevant."

Also, this option looks intriguing:

A popular vote function will allow viewers to compare their opinions against those of the entire viewing community. Poll results will be available online live during each event and archived for future viewing.

Options for approval ratings include:

  • I agree
  • Well argued
  • Sincere/ authentic
  • All of the above

Options for disapproval ratings include:

  • I disagree
  • Full of bull
  • Scripted/ canned
  • All of the above

The problem is, I can't help but suspect that if "Ron Paul ROCKS' was listed as an option, it would lead with about 80 percent...
