HILLARY CLINTON, BARACK OBAMA

The Latest in the Delegate and Superdelegate Fights

Here's something of a difference — Obama's picking up speed among the Superdelegates, but Hillary thinks they can nickel and dime their way to narrowing the gap among regular delegates.

Obama's getting Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and "North Carolina's seven Democratic House members are poised to endorse Sen. Obama as a group — just one has so far — before that state's May 6 primary, several Democrats say."

This is a big deal, as some of those North Carolina Democrats, notably Heath Shuler, represent deep red districts that have few African-Americans. That endorsement would send a signal that Obama at the top of the ticket would help protect endangered seats better than Hillary would.

Hillary leads among superdelegates 250 to 217, according to the Wall Street Journal.

But she has some good news among regular delegates, as she's picking up delegates here and there as the delegate selection process continues in states that have already voted.

Austin, TX – Following the Democratic Party’s county conventions in Texas this weekend, Clinton Campaign Texas Chairman Garry Mauro issued the following statement.

“Our delegates came out to their county conventions in full force over the weekend, and as a result, we gained at least two delegates to the national convention, with the possibility of picking up two more. Barack Obama did not make threshold in at least 25 counties, and we out-performed in many areas throughout rural Texas, where Hillary Clinton's support is strong.

"We continue to be grateful to the enthusiastic support Hillary continues to receive throughout the Lone Star state, and look forward to a strong showing at the Texas State Convention in June."
