FRED THOMPSON, JOHN MCCAIN

No Perfume-Laden Magazines For Team Fred

Almost forgot — one other item from the Thompson Associate this morning, talking about how John McCain got glowing profiles in 2000 as ‘the good Republican’ from places like Esquire magazine, not often found singing the praises of GOP candidates...

“I don’t know who in our base cares about Esquire magazine,” the Thompson Associate said. It’s not that they don’t like perfume-laden magazines. Maybe we have a metrosexual part of our base. But I don’t think they take that into account when they’re picking a nominee.”

Having said that, Rudy Giuliani and Arnold Schwarzenegger have also graced the cover of Esquire.
